Men's and Women's Swimmers Heading in Opposite Direction

Last Sunday, the men's(0-5 overall, 0-1 Patriot League) and women's (3-3 overall, 1-1 PL) swimming teams traveled to Dartmouth University for out-of-conference meets. The women took care of business , defeating Dartmouth by the final score of 160-134 in an impressive performance. The Raiders won a total of 11 events and were led by first-year Erin McGraw, who won the 200-yard butterfly, the 100-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly. She also won the Patriot League Female Swimmer of the Week award. Classmate Caren Guyett contributed to the Raider cause by winning the 500 and 1,000-yard freestyle. Junior Beverly Walker also posted a stellar effort by placing first in both the 100 and 200-yard backstroke competitions. Sophomore Caitie Curran (200-yard breaststroke) and junior Ashley Bottger (50-yard freestyle) rounded out Colgate's individual victories. The Raiders also placed first in the 400-yard medley and freestyle relays.
Meanwhile, the winless men's team lost to Dartmouth by the score of 170-124, dropping its record to 0-5. Senior Zach Whitman (100-yard butterfly), junior George Bennitt (50-yard freestyle) and first-year Trevor Healy (200-yard breaststroke) brought home individual golds for Colgate. The Raiders also won the 400-yard freestyle Relay with a time of 3:14.67. Whitman, junior Dan Lathrop, senior Jeff Jakob and first-year Tucker Gniewek composed that team.
Next up for both squads is the Kenyon Invite, which begins on November 29 and lasts through December 1.
