Family Weekend was fantastic! The highlight was the ending of Towson's 14-game non-conference winning streak in front of an energetic crowd of students and their families. As always, Colgate was so busy with exciting events that it was difficult to get to everything. The events that we were able to get to were the two a cappella concerts in the Chapel, the celebratory feast to break Ramadan (Eid dinner) with the Muslim Student Association, as well as the football and Rugby games. It was a weekend filled with great examples of student organizations providing events and entertainment for the Colgate Community.

For those of you who also spent part of your weekend in Case-Geyer Library working on a lengthy research paper, you probably saw many students with their families touring the new building for the first time, as did we. It was a great opportunity for parents to be sure they are "getting their money's worth" and enjoy the excellent new facilities of both Case-Geyer and the Ho Science Center.

As our campus adapts to two incredible new buildings, we are also adapting in a time of transition for the Center for Leadership and Student Involvement (CLSI). Two staff members, Catherine Regan and Khatera Abdulwali, recently departed the office and will be missed dearly. However, we are excited to announce that Dean Raj Bellani has been appointed to serve as Interim Director of CLSI until someone is hired on a permanent basis. Given his background in student activities and his vast experience at Colgate, we are confident that he is the perfect person to run CLSI in this time of important transition. We encourage you to be patient with all the CLSI staff while they return to full capacity but also to utilize Dean Bellani for the time that he serves in CLSI.

Finally, we want to acknowledge a recent misfortune for the owners and patrons of Parkside Deli and Catering. We are sorry to learn of the fire damage done to their facility downtown and hope that they are able to rebuild as soon as possible. University Chaplain Mark Shiner and COVE Director Ingrid Hale will be spearheading efforts to assist displaced students, as well as the owners of Parkside, Carolyn Gherardi and Craig Di Battista. If you would like to assist in these efforts, please contact the Chaplaincy. In the meantime, students will surely miss eating at this Colgate landmark.
