Softball Stumbles Against Niagara; Sweeps Army

The softball team finally saw some action against the Purple Eagles of Niagara last Wednesday after postponements forced them to a ten-day rest. Unfortunately, the results were not good. In the first game of the doubleheader, senior Kelsey Nordstrom had her first poor performance of the year, giving up six earned runs in just three and two-thirds innings of work.

Colgate Outlaxes the Leopards; Bucknell is Next

The men's Lacrosse team secured its place in the Patriot League Tournament with an impressive 12-5 away win over the Leopards of Lafayette last Saturday afternoon. Colgate is now 8-4 on the season. Lafayette dropped to 1-11, a dismal record reminiscent of binary code.

Once again, the women of the running Raiders had an extremely successful week. Traveling to the Bison Outdoor Classic at Bucknell University, the ladies posted six top-four finishes, three Colgate records and one ECAC qualification. The first Colgate record to fall came in the 1,500m courtesy of senior Liz Crowley.

Men's Second Varsity Four and Women's Novice Four Win

The men's Rowing flexed its muscles for the second year in a row at the Knecht Cup in Camden, New Jersey last weekend with each of its boats qualifying in its respective grand final. Despite a dramatic schedule shift that cut the event down to a single day of competition, resulting in three races in one day for some team members and a withdrawal from participation in the two-seat event, the Raiders made the most of their opportunity.

Ultimate Frisbee Closes Out Year

Last Saturday, Colgate's Ultimate Frisbee teams concluded their seasons by participating in the first round of the College Championship series. The Vibe, the women's team, traveled to Geneva, New York to compete against eight other schools from upstate New York while the Jabberwock, the men's team, traveled to Oneonta, New York to compete against sixteen schools from New York and Ontario.

Tennis Remains Hot Heading into Patriot League Champisonship

Colgate tennis is back! The men's and women's Tennis teams sent a message loud and clear to the rest of the Patriot League with their dominating victories over Holy Cross and Lehigh last weekend. The men entered the matches in need of a victory to solidify their ranking as the third-seed heading into the Patriot League Tournament and did just that by trouncing the Holy Cross Crusaders 7-0 last Saturday.

Golf Posts Best Finish of Season

Even though rough weather ended the weekend early for golfers at the Lafayette Invitational, Colgate had its best weekend (albeit an abbreviated one) of the spring campaign. The Raiders finished 12th overall in the field of 24 and junior Ricky Hayes posted a three-over round of 75 to finish in a tie with a handful of golfers for the fourth-best score of the day.

Raiders Earn PL Playoff Berth

The women's Lacrosse team has been about as predictable as the words coming out of Don Imus' mouth. After opening the season with six consecutive defeats, it looked to be a lost campaign for the 2006 Patriot League runner-up. Under the guidance of new Head Coach Heather Bliss, however, the team responded admirably with four wins in six games, including an essential league victory over Bucknell.

On April 15th, Major League Baseball celebrated the 60th anniversary of the breaking of the color barrier.
