So it's second semester of your senior year, and if you're like me, you still have four gym classes left to take (not to mention the swim test). I'm not a procrastinator; every semester I tell myself that this will be the semester that I will finish up my gym credits and get in great shape, and every semester I go to the first two classes and then I lose all motivation.
Unfortunately, it is my last semester at Colgate, and as a nice little note from the registrar just reminded me, if I don't take four gym classes in the next twelve weeks, I will not graduate.
So, I thought I might save you underclassmen from pain and misery by telling you all that it sucks to have to find the time to take not one but four gym classes, when you are swamped with a senior thesis, finding a job, and, oh yeah, trying to have a little too much fun during your last semester of COLLEGE.
But if you're anything like me, the idea of sweating for an hour in a crowded room full of freshman (who are actually smart and getting their credits out of the way) isn't very appealing. Try these courses out if you're looking for an easy way to fulfill those pesky PE credits:
1. Yoga - This is seriously the lazy man's best friend. For those of you experienced yoga followers, there isn't much downward dog involved in this class, but if you're good at lying on a mat and breathing for 50 minutes, you're golden.
2. Social Change, Career Skills, Relationships and Sexuality - Definitely no sneakers involved here! While these classes are more like taking a fifth course, you might learn something interesting. Plus they're only around an hour once a week and you get a full credit!
3. Bowling - This is a great class to take with a bunch of your friends. The class goes by quickly, and you may enjoy it so much that you find yourself joining a league (like some friends of mine who will remain nameless). Think: Big Lebowski.
4. Social Dance - To be honest, I have no idea what this class involves, and I couldn't bring myself to try it. I do know that it doesn't seem very aerobically demanding; unless, of course, the idea of dancing in front of other people makes you sweat.
