As the spring semester begins here at Colgate, the intramural basketball season comes to an end. This Wednesday saw the last night of regular season action with a number of seeds for the three intramural basketball playoff brackets still up in the air.
Before Christmas, Sigma Chi A emerged as the surprising first-place squad in League A with a 3-0 record coming into this Wednesday's game with Delta Kappa Epsilon (DKE).
Trailing Sigma Chi A by one game in the League A standings (as of Wednesday) are DKE and America Yeah, both at 2-1. Staff Infection will try to shrug off a slow 1-2 start heading into the playoffs, while Beta Theta Pi (Beta) A rounds out the league at 0-4.
In League B there were no surprises heading into Wednesday night's season finale. The early-season favorite Running Suckers emerged unscathed in the first semester, ending their pre-break run at 4-0. The defending-champion Brothers stand at 3-1 in League B after an early-season defeat at the hands of the Running Suckers, while the Jewce Is Loose headed into Wednesday night with a 2-2 record.
In the bottom half of the league, Sigma Chi B and Theta Chi come into the second semester with a 1-2 record each, while Phi Delta Theta (Phi Delt) is winless at 0-4.
All League A and B teams will participate in the Division I Tournament, which is scheduled to begin on Monday.
In League C, Curtis claimed first-place after a close defeat of the Great Colgate Ballers prior to break, giving the first-year squad a tie-breaking lead over the Ballers, as each team entered the semester at 3-1.
Likewise, the Yo Mets gained third-place in the league after defeating Beta B in December, putting each team at 2-2 heading into next week's tournament.
The Squadron of Doom finished their regular season in the League C cellar at 0-4.
Jason & The Johnsons ended the League D season at 3-0, earning a first-place spot to end the term. KSA avenged an early season loss to Jason & The Johnsons by finishing 2-1 in the league, while the Regulators and Main Moon round out the league at 1-2 and 0-3, respectively.
