Welcome Back Colgate. This semester will be a time when we implement many of the changes we mentioned to you all last semester. The Student Government Association is getting more involved with Winterfest, the Arts Festival, and SPW. You will hear about these events in coming weeks.
Over break the world was shocked when they heard the news of the tsunami that took place in South East Asia. This is a time for the world to come together and provide support to these nations and their citizens. The SGA has made it a personal goal to raise 13,000 dollars to help those who were affected by the tsunami. This little donation can go a long way in helping to rebuild many homes and communities.
The SGA is also going to be moving forward with the Greek acquisition and you will be receiving a detailed email from Casey and me next week. I will also be conducting a Greek Forum that will consist of important administrators, trustees, Greek alumni, and faculty. The purpose of this forum will be to educate Colgate students about the future of Greek life at Colgate. It will also be a time for every student to ask questions about the transition process.
The SGA is also looking to improve Winterfest and would like your support. We are looking to add more events in coordination with the Arts Festival, Student Groups, and Colgate Activities Board. We are also looking to play a bigger role in SPW. This means that we will be looking for your support and advice on how to make this SPW bigger and better. Please provide us with any information or advice that you may have in order to improve upon past SPWs. Feel free to email us at ramandcasey@mail.colgate.edu.
