Hey, Colgate. I am back again
with another weekly update to
hook you with all the important info about what we've been doing to make your lives better. In Senate this week, we had the honor and privilege of having both President Chopp and Dean Weinberg address us. They conveyed a promising message that highlighted their goals for the upcoming years. Included among them was a new initiative to improve the arts program at Colgate, a new plan for student-led entrepreneurialism and an invitation for students to help with implementing the goals of the diversity report. I strongly support these goals and will do everything in my power to assist President Chopp in seeing them through.        Throughout the past week, I have met with the Mayor of Hamilton to discuss the possibility of a Covered Cruiser Stop downtown and an increased presence of Garbage cans. These are two things that could help benefit both the Hamilton and Colgate communities. Going downtown has become more popular in recent years, and it is our prerogative to provide a cozy environment for students to wait for the Cruiser. In the past week, I have received an enormous amount of email from students who are fed up with the unreliability of the Cruiser schedule. This is an issue that I am going to address immediately, and I can promise you change by next semester.
In your conversations with friends and neighbors, I would like you all to discuss the possibilities of increased and diversified leisure options. Parties and shindigs are fantastic, and the SGA is continuing its efforts to increase the amount of campus-wide events for the upcoming semester. Senate heard from Dean Adams this past week and will be discussing Broad Street events in the upcoming weeks. Parties are only one part of campus life, and I challenge you all to assist me in brainstorming a smorgasbord of ideas to improve the social options at Colgate. During the past week, we have thought of the possibilities of having a Miniature Golf Course, a LaserTag Arena or even a Batting Cage/Fast Pitch (clock your own pitches) that would be available to students throughout the week. I would love to hear from you about what you would like to do in your leisure time.
