Take a quick moment to look at the date. It has been one month since the beginning of classes! Don't ask us where the time has gone, but feel free to challenge us to make the time ahead even better than the weeks you've enjoyed at Colgate thus far.
If you've yet to come across it in Colgate lore, let us introduce you to Spring Party Weekend (SPW) with an incredible opportunity. The SPW '08 Task Force, the group charged with planning this weekend packed with events, is open for your participation and input. As a collaboration between the Colgate Activities Board (CAB) and the Student Government Association (SGA), it will have its first meeting on October 10 at 7:00 p.m. in the Ho Lecture Room of Lawrence Hall. This is your chance to help choose the band, plan the festivities and make the magic that is Spring Party Weekend.
For those of you who would rather roll up your sleeves for a cause that will improve this campus on a daily basis, we would like to bring your attention to the Donovan's Pub Working Group, an SGA initiative led by Stacey Valentine '08. Donovan's Pub was a bar back in the days of James C. Colgate Hall and was owned by the Donovan family, who is currently very excited to revive this hotspot. Consider this your chance to come back to truly impact campus culture and create a place to being enjoyed by future Colgaters for years to come. The Donovan's Pub facility has a lot of character and we are looking forward to see where your ideas will take it! Let Stacey (svalentine) know you want to get involved and start making 'Gate history at their first meeting on October 4 at 4:30 p.m. in Case 415.
Colgate University's administration, Board of Trustees, and alumni have made a conscious decision to entrust the students of Colgate with creating social options. Whether you want to make an enduring impact on our facilities or get on board for a marquee event, we hope to see you at these upcoming meetings. We look forward to catching up with you in May at the reinvigorated Donovan's Pub to reminisce about the good times of SPW '08!
